The .NET SDK is a set of libraries and tools that developers use to create .NET applications and libraries.¹

How to install the .NET SDK

Depending on your scenario, you can install the SDK using one of the following methods:

a. Use the native installers

1. Download and install the .NET SDK from the official website (the website will detect your current OS).

And that’s it. To verify if it was properly installed, open the terminal and run

dotnet --version

b. Use the installation shell script

The intended use of the scripts is for Continuous Integration (CI) scenarios. Here are stable version of the scripts:
