.NET Languages

The .NET platform officially supports three primary programming languages1

  • C# (pronounced “C sharp”) is a simple, modern, object-oriented, and type-safe programming language. Its roots in the C family of languages makes C# immediately familiar to C, C++, Java, and JavaScript programmers.2
  • F# (pronounced “F sharp”) is a programming language that makes it easy to write succinct, robust, and performant code.3
  • Visual Basic is an approachable language with a simple syntax for building type-safe, object-oriented apps.4
